Benefits from the standards

Imagine a World without standards
Reminder of the significance of standardization and its influence over everyday life can be the example of a passenger who has to carry a suitcase full of adapters when traveling from one country to another. These switches were specified in the past when the international standardization was not widely recognized and they represent an everyday reminder of the standards' universal value. A similar example is the man who tries to connect his computer purchased from one country to a phone line in another country.

Standards are consumer oriented

Standards provide consumers with the necessary confidence that the products and services they purchase i.e. receive are safe, reliable and will perform the operation they are intended for. Standards help consumers in the everyday choice between products.

Standards make the world safer
Irrespective, of whether the case is soft toys, sharp tools, explosion proof window glass, helmets or transport of dangerous goods, the establishment of standard insures that those products serve their purpose and reduce the danger. That is the reason why credit and other cards can also be used abroad.

Standards encourage the exchange of technologies and innovations
Standards provide a platform for the creation of new and exciting ideas. Standardization helps in the universal and global application of innovative technologies and knowledge and opens the markets to new products and international cooperation. Regardless of whether the case is use of natural gas as vehicle fuel, in space and air technology, or for medical products: standards bring the world closer.

Standards create a healthy environment and an environment of health
Standards regulate everything, from food safety, supply of healthy drinking water and quality of medical devices, to the application of the hygiene rules regarding everything. They also insure general rules in solving the issues of climate change, air, water and soil quality, energy supply, emissions and radiation.

Standards make trading easier

From the size of the tank to the coffee bean, the choice of joints for car wheels, or the reasons for the contract to be written on paper with the same format as the other documents: standards are applied everywhere and help companies for the development of their products and services to be based on specifications which are widely accepted in their sectors. This enables them to compete on "equal grounds” in the world market.

Standards increase the competitiveness of Macedonian products on the global market
Standards and standardization represent one of the basic needs, conditions and assumptions for successful development of the Macedonian economy. Products that comply with the Macedonian standards have competitive advantage before products that are not prepared in accordance with the standards – the consumers know the difference.
Safe and quality products can be placed on the global market only by implementing the standards' requirements. About 99 percent of all Macedonian standards are based on international and European equivalents.
