ISO 9001, the world’s most popular standard for quality management, is now under review, with an updated version due to be available by the end of 2015.
The revision will take into consideration a number of issues to ensure it enhances an organization’s ability to consistently provide products that meet customer requirements.
The draft standard has been written using the new high level structure which is common to all new management systems standards. This will allow easy integration when implementing more than one management system.
All requirements are specifically applied both to products and services and are adapted to the particularities of the service.
In addition, special emphasis is placed on the process approach since this is one of the pillars of any quality management system. ISO/DIS 9001 clearly describes the information to be determined in order to prove a correct process management, including the risks and opportunities to be addressed in order to reach the expected results.
Accordingly, the requirements regarding the risk-based approach are clearly included in ISO/DIS 9001, emphasising its importance during the planning of the quality management system and its processes.
It’s the opportunity for all stakeholders to give their views and comments on the available draft international standard till 15th of September , 2014 on thecommenting template.
